A true success story. After being skinny and suffering from depression, Didi took to the gym to build her confidence and to grow some muscle – a move which changed her life forever. Fitness became her saving grace after having a baby in 2012 and after only 4 years of training and a whole heap of competition success she is now one of the leading PCA Pro athletes in South Africa.

What do you do for a living? I’m an account manager (Administrate doctors/specialist’s accounts/books)
How do you split up your training days weekly? I usually train everyday and some weekends are off days but also it depends on what coach orders.
Favourite body part to train? Legs
Favourite Exercise? Pretty much anything that includes glutes.
Favourite Diet Food? Difficult to say…
Best Cheat Meal? Pizza, Double thick chocolate milkshake or any desert. I also love beer!
Other Interests, Hobbies etc? Dancing, music, being a mom, student and an athlete with a full time job leaves no room for any hobbies (she laughs).
Future Goals: Short term and long-term goals? Short term: to bring my best package yet to the PCA Pro stage Battle of the Titans (June 2020) and just keep improving on my physique. Long term: to be able to reach new heights in the fitness industry and become a fitness studio owner assisting new and upcoming athletes.
Favourite International and Local athletes? Angelica Teixeira, Rachel & Emma Dillon
What motivates you? The drive I have for myself and my life to succeed. To continue being a good role model for my son and to show him that hard work leads to great success.
How do you stay motivated? I just take a look at my son because he makes me want to be the best person I can be.
What do you believe to be your number one character trait that makes you successful in this sport? Determination. I never had it easy, so I go out and work for it myself. Despite the odds and things that don’t happen for me, I don’t lose sight of my goals.
What encouraging words do you have for up and coming athletes that look up to you? Work hard for the things you are passionate about. Never doubt your capabilities and believe in yourself. We can win in life no matter what the circumstances are.
