Olympia weekend, from 14 to 17 September, is fast approaching and thousands of bodybuilding fans from all over the world are getting ready for the action.
Not only will top names in the IFBB Pro League such as Josh Lenartowicz, Brandon Curry, Shawn Rhoden and Dexter Jackson be competing for a chance to topple reigning champion Phil Heath in Las Vegas but fans can also look forward to athletes battling it out for top spots in the Men’s and Women’s Physique, Bikini, Classic Physique and the 212 division as well as the introduction of an Amateur contest. In addition, a Fitness and Performance Expo will be held over the course of the weekend. In 2016 the Expo grew to more than 1,100 exhibitors with over 60,000 people in attendance.
This year also marks the 53rd annual edition which will make it the biggest in the event’s history with more than $1,300,000 in prize money awarded to competitors. The Mr. Olympia further fueled the growth of bodybuilding on international level with amateur events under the Olympia name being promoted in Bahrain, Colombia, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Mexico, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom and Qatar.
Amazon, as title sponsor of the 2017 Olympia Weekend, will feature live broadcasts of the events, including the crowning of the winner of the Mr. Olympia contest.
