April 7 – IFBB Kathu Classic

Where: Kalahari Country Club, Hans Coetzee Road, Kathu, Northern Cape

The IFBB Kathu Classic returns in the hope of finding the best of the best.

Registration and weigh-in will take place from 08:00 to 10:30 with pre-judging starting at 11:00. The main show kicks off at the Kalahari Country Club at 15:30.

April 7 – PCA Destiny Classic, The Rise of Iron

Where: Garden Route Casino, 1 Pinnacle Point Road, Mossel Bay, Eastern Cape

The Destiny Classic is yet another exciting Physical Culture Association show. The focus is primarily on the development and novice athletes but it also caters for the regular athlete wanting to use it as platform for the start of the bodybuilding season. The Destiny Classic is not to be confused with the Garden Route Casino Classic, also backed by the PCA, which has grown incrementally over the last few years. The latter is held on 9 June 2018 at the Garden Route Casino.

April 14 – IBFF Kroonstad Classic

The International Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBFF) is a federation that has been in existence since 2009. More than 50 countries from over the world are members.

Fair judging at competition level is one of the organisation’s most important goals and the IBFF Kroonstad Classic will be no exception. Make sure not to miss this show!

April 14 – NABBA/WFF Private Show Muscle Dynamix Classic

Where: Camps Bay High School, Cape Town, Western Cape

In South Africa the National Amateur Body Building Association (NABBA) and the World Fitness Federation (WFF) functions as a dual federation under the guidance of Alet Lemmer and Bev Scott.

Athletes will be out in full force to show off their muscular physiques in Camps Bay in Cape Town. Registration for the Muscle Dynamix Classic starts at 11:00 with the main show commencing at 15:00.

April 14 – IFBB Millennium Gold Plate (Arnold Classic Africa Qualifier)

Where: Kaleideo Auditorium, 32 Fiskaal Street, Glen Marais, Kempton Park, Gauteng

Over 206 superbly conditioned athletes competed in last year’s IFBB Millennium Gold Plate to qualify for the Arnold Classic Africa and an opportunity to flex in the Gentle Giant Classic. Names that stood out were Sandile Memela (Up to 70kg), Morne van den Berg (Up to 80kg), Johnny Lucas (Up to 90kg) and Innocent Mabaso (Over 90kg). Who will shine on stage this year?

The best talent from across South Africa will compete for bodybuilding glory and to qualify for the Arnold Classic Africa at this year’s IFBB Buffalo City Classic. In 2017 Gauteng’s Muzi Maluleke jetted in to claim the Overall victory. A similar situation occurred in 2016 when Mdu Green from KZN arrived to steal the limelight and walk away with the top trophy. Can anyone from East London do the same this year?

April 20-22 – IFBB Arnold Classic South America

Where: Transamerica Expo Center, Sao Paulo, Brazil

This year will be the sixth edition of the Arnold Sports Festival in South America. Following the multi-sport tradition of the original Arnold Weekend concept in Columbus, Ohio, the Arnold Classic will also include the inaugural edition of the IFBB Elite Pro bodybuilding competition.

Once named the Arnold Classic Brazil, this year’s event represents a more continental look with Brazil as the host city of the international extravaganza.

It is human nature to compare yourself with others, even more so when you walk out to strut your stuff at a bodybuilding show. To compete requires discipline and will power and both qualities will be on display at the Arnold Classic Africa Qualifier, the King Shaka Classic which aims to cater to the fanatical fan base that the bodybuilding and fitness industry has within the KZN region.

In order to be an IBFF Pro you need to earn an IBFF Pro Card, and in order to do that you need to win IBFF international contests. Here is your chance! The Misumzi Wakashe Classic, named after the IBFF Pro bodybuilder, will be an IBFF World Championships Qualifier. Win here and you stand a chance to earn your Pro status at an international show.
