Bodybuilders to watch at the 2018 Arnold

This weekend some of the most talented bodybuilders will descend on Columbus in Ohio for the Arnold Classic.

The much anticipated Arnold Classic USA will attract athletes from around the globe to battle it out for a podium spot in one of the most prestigious contests of the year. As enthusiasts of the sport we all have our favourites but here are five competitors to keep an eye on at this year’s competition:

William ‘The Conqueror’ Bonac

The man who finished 3rd on the Olympia stage in 2017 is determined to do some serious damage in Columbus with his lines, separation and dense quality muscle. With a productive off-season behind him under the tutelage of Y3T creator and master trainer Neil Hill it will be interesting to see what he has to offer.

Cedric ‘Big Mac’ McMillan

Big Mac will be out to defend his title and is regarded as one of the favourites after he was crowned  champion in 2017 in one of the most prominent victories of his professional career. The biggest factor with McMillan will be if he is capable of bringing the perfect package of size and symmetry fans expect of an athlete of his stature.

Dexter ‘The Blade’ Jackson

As five-time champion ‘The Blade’ will this year once again be looking at walking away with the top honours. Although older than his opponents he still has the goods to deliver a knockout blow. In fact, the 2008 Mr. Olympia has never gone onstage completely out of shape. Jackson won the Arnold Classic in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2013 and 2015 and holds the competition’s record with five titles, one more than Flex Wheeler. The Blade is one of the best at what he does – let’s see what he brings to Columbus!

Dennis ‘The Big Bad Wolf’

Back from a serious injury the German juggernaut obviously wants to start his year with a bang. Dennis Wolf did make improvements in key areas of his physique as he continues to build a legacy for himself. The Arnold brings a certain level of stress and demand for any athlete due to the prestige of the event, especially when you are making your return to the competitive arena. Is Dennis good enough to beat his rivals and once again be the talk of the show? We will have to wait and see!

Roelly ‘The Dutch Beast’ Winklaar

The Arnold Classic represents a golden opportunity for competitors like Roelly Winklaar to show fans just how much they have improved. Will Roelly blow his opponents away this year with a phenomenal package of freaky size and conditioning? In the past ‘The Dutch Beast’ has been guilty of sacrificing shape for size but bodybuilding is more than just sheer mass. Hopefully we will see him back in the best condition of his life.
