The right mindset

I usually write about training and nutrition but today I would like to touch on another aspect of bodybuilding that is equally as important: The right mindset.

As a coach it is easy to convince people to train like this and eat like that but if a competitor’s mind is not in the right space the weeks spent prepping for a show will be fruitless. The right mindset is what separates pretenders from contenders and participants from champions!

The brutal truth

Motivation is what will set you apart from the rest of the pack. Passion will ensure you follow through when things get tough and when you need to continue with what you are doing in order to achieve your objective despite difficult circumstances.

How do you get this particular mindset? The brutal truth is that there is no pill or shake in existence that can give you the 24/7 dedication you need to achieve success in the sport of bodybuilding. You must examine your motivation and find your own individual reason that drives you to become better and stick to the commitment of putting endless hours into training, nutrition and recovery.

You versus you

Your passion must be backed up by the enthusiasm and the desire for what you do – it’s basically a combination of your head and heart.

I believe we all have the ability to reach greater heights and the capacity to chase glory. We need to visualise what we want to achieve. Without visualisation I guarantee you that you will miss your target!

There’s a saying that goes “you can either suffer with discipline or you can suffer with regret”.
