The Arnold Classic Africa will be held from 18 to 20 May 2018 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Many top athletes from all over the world will join their South African counterparts to battle it out for top honours among not only the amateur ranks but also as part of the newly established IFBB Elite Pro section. After parting ways with the National Physique Committee (NPC) and IFBB Pro League run by Jim Manion in 2017, the IFBB has decided to reassume its professional activities under the banner of IFBB Elite Pro League.

South African athletes who recently received IFBB Elite Pro status are Carlos Nunes, Chanel Erwee, Mveliso Tapi, Carine Kloenne, Nina Richter and Marlene Koekemoer.

The IFBB Elite Pro divisions at this year’s Arnold Classic Africa will consist of:

Men’s Athletic Physique

Men’s Classic Bodybuilding

Men’s Bodybuilding up to 90kg

Men’s Bodybuilding over 90kg

Women’s Fitness

Women’s Physique

Women’s Body Fitness

Women’s Bikini Fitness

Women’s Wellness Fitness

Athletes with Pro status will also have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes in a number of IFBB Elite Pro competitions across the globe. A break in ties with the NPC and the IFBB Pro League will clearly not stop the IFBB in putting on shows this year.
