IFBB announces inclusion of new divisions

The IFBB SA has announced that four new divisions will be added to the governing body's competition format. All 2010 shows will now have a Bikini Division, starting at all novice/dev shows, as the 2010 IFBB SA National Novice Champs will have this division included. A Routine With Props - Men and Routine With Props - Women can now also be included in shows should the show organiser so choose. To cater to a broader market, the IFBB has also announced the addition of a Wheelchair Division, which can be included in all shows from the middle of 2010. A children's fitness division will be introduced in 2011.

Routine with Props – Men and Women divisions
These are both new categories for inclusion in the 2010 IFBB shows in South Africa. The Routine with Props – Men and Women divisions will be held on a provincial level only. It is an open line-up (no weight, height or age restrictions) format, consisting of a single round with the use of a prop. There are no quarter turns or mandatory poses or comparisons included in this division.

Bikini Division
A re-introduction to the IFBB competition format, the Bikini Division is now also an IFBB International division. This division suits women who prefer to develop a less muscular physique, and has an athletic and aesthetically pleasing bikini body, with softer lines and a low body fat percentage.

The divisions available include:

This division will include two rounds, namely the group round and model walk. The group round requires that all competitors appear on stage in order of competition number to present themselves to the judges with a full turn. The second round is the individual model walk, where the model's physique will once again be presented through a full turn to the judges. There are no quarter turns, mandatory poses or posing routines in this division.

Wheelchair division
Due to the popularity of the Wheelchair Division in Europe, introduced in 2009, the IFBB will be implementing it as a standard division across all member countries, as well as on the IFBB International World Champs stage. Initially there will only be a men’s division available, with a ladies' divisions introduced at a later stage.

Proposed divisions on a national basis (dependent on participation) include:
Juniors – One line up
Seniors - One line up
Masters - One line up

To begin with the competition will comprise two rounds, with a third round added at a later stage. The initial two rounds will include relaxed quarter turns and compulsory poses.
