Controversial IFBB Pro bodybuilder Kai Greene has been offered a special invitation to the 2017 Mr. Olympia.
With current reigning Mr. Olympia Phil Heath gunning for his seventh Sandow trophy it would be interesting to see what Kai brings to the ultimate showdown in bodybuilding if he accepts the invitation from IFBB Pro League President Jim Manion.
“It would be a great thing to have him back in the Olympia, ” Manion admitted to bodybuilding writer Peter McGough during a recent interview.
“The IFBB Pro League and the Olympia want to make the contest as interesting as possible for the fans, so we would give him a special invite, like we gave Kevin Levrone last year. So if Kai is listening I will give him an Olympia invite so he doesn’t have to go through any qualifying process,” Manion said.
Kai’s most recent victory was the 2016 Arnold Classic. The 41-year-old came 2nd at the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Mr. Olympia competitions. He did not compete in the 2015 Mr. Olympia after not meeting the deadline for the registration of the competition, perceived as the “Super Bowl of bodybuilding”.
