Wayne DeMilia is the head of the new IFBB Amateur Division in America.
DeMilia, a bodybuilding show promoter since 1975, was appointed by IFBB International President Rafael Santonja to lead the way for the IFBB Amateur League in the USA.
After parting ways with the National Physique Committee (NPC) and IFBB Pro League, run by Jim Manion, the IFBB International has decided to conduct its professional activities under the banner of the newly established IFBB Elite Pro League.
DeMilia promoted the Mr. Olympia amongst many other contests, including the Night of Champions and the European Grand Prix series. In an interview he said that there are no plans at this stage to bring back the legendary Night of Champions but hinted at the possibility of running the Mr. America as one of the IFBB’s contests for amateurs.
In further developments since the IFBB’s recent split, Russia’s Natalia Lugovskikh and Dennis Johansen from Norway made history when they won their first IFBB Elite Pro titles in the Bikini and Men’s Physique divisions at this year’s Nordic Pro in Finland. The next IFBB Elite Pro show will be held in Italy on 26 November 2017 with events in Spain and Brazil to follow.
To counter the IFBB International’s traditional dominance in Europe former IFBB Pro bodybuilder Bob Cicherillo travelled to the United Kingdom to promote future shows under the IFBB Pro League/NPC banner. The first show, the London Royal Pro, will take place in Stratford in March 2018. IFBB Pro League Cards will be awarded at this show with Overall winners qualifying for the Olympia Weekend.
